“LINDAs Magnolia-Scent Time in Natchez”

61 Linda’s/Lynda’s experienced the Southern hospitality of Natchez, Mississippi the weekend of July 20-22, 2018.   The Linda’s/Lynda’s reconnected and made new friendships during registration time on Friday afternoon.  Background music was provided by our own Linda Ponder.  Friday evening Miss Ginger explained the proper way to wear a hat.  She had many beautiful hats for the ladies to try on.  We learned that “over the top is just a start”.  Linda Hinzie shared Southern etiquette during our meeting times.

After our business meeting on Saturday morning, we toured two antebellum homes, the amazing Towers of Natchez and the beautiful Choctaw Hall.  The Linda’s/Lynda’s took pleasure in a delicious lunch at Choctaw Hall.  Saturday evening after our group picture, a fabulous meal at the Grand Natchez Hotel was enjoyed by all.  The tables were beautifully decorated with Mississippi favorites of magnolias, cotton balls, pralines and pink and white beads.  This year the convention team asked the Linda’s/Lynda’s to dress in their formal clothes and wear a hat.  We modeled our hats and outfits in a  contest.  Everyone looked glamorous.  The ladies tested their Mississippi knowledge with a trivia game.  The silent auction winners were then announced.

Sunday morning the hotel guests woke up to no electricity.  The hotel staff went above and beyond to see that our needs were still met.  During our Sunday morning program, a check for $1,600 was presented to Mary Ann Eidt with Pleasant Acres Day School.  This money is raised from the proceeds of our silent action.

Chairwoman for the 2018 convention was Linda Hinzie and her committee was Lynda Nelson, Linda Barron and Linda Melsha.

Some of the spouses/significant others of  the Linda’s/Lynda’s enjoyed a Saturday excursion to the USS Kidd in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
